Giles K. Kreps, 80, of Marion, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, July 1, 2016 in the presence of his loving wife. He was born in Bushnell, Illinois on July 30, 1935 to the late Harry and Veda (Crowl) Kreps. He married M. Sue Johnson on June 22, 1979 and she survives.

Giles was a graduate of Bushnell High School and had attended classes at Purdue University. He proudly and honorably served his country in the United States National Guard where he had achieved the rank of Sergeant. He had started working for Skelgas in Illinois after school, and due to his positive work ethic, he was promoted to manager where he served for 25 years. In later years, Giles was a bus driver for Marion Community Schools for 10 years, from which he retired at the age of 75.

Giles was a long time charter member of Grace Community Church where he helped in the building and grounds committee, acted as a trustee, and was put in charge of the greeters. He loved sports, and in addition to being an avid IU fan, he had traveled for 15 years with the Plymouth Club Class-A Softball Team. Giles enjoyed handyman work, watching westerns, and reading books by Louis L’Amour. He also enjoyed horses, and watching rodeos. More than anything, Giles loved the time he spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Giles is survived by his children; Randy K. (Cindy) Kreps of Huntington, Rick A. Kreps of Columbia City, Gregory Johnson of Marion and Michael (Michelle) Johnson of Marion, grandchildren; Kyle Kreps, Kayley Kreps, Kaitlyn Kreps, his “#1 pardner” Ryan Johnson, and his “angelface” Lacey Johnson, great grandchildren; Kinsi Lynn, Macy Johnson, and Jaxton Johnson, brother-in-law; Russel Wells, special family; The Parkers, special friends; Tammy and Jason Glass, The Bradshaw’s, The Childer’s, The Jackson’s, The Sander’s, The Strickland’s, The Sweat’s, The Tinkle’s and The Weavers, as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and church family.

Giles was preceded in death by his parents, nine brothers; Eugene, Edwin, Loren, John, Kenneth, Marion, Lyle, Donald, and Gerald Kreps, three sisters; Francile Schreffler, Rosalie Hendricks and Connie Wells.

Funeral Services will take place at Grace Community Church, 1810 E. Bradford Pike, Marion IN 46952, at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 with Pastor Tom Mansbarger officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday July 5, 2016 at Needham Storey Wampner Funeral Service, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave. Marion, IN 46952, as well as 1 hour prior to the funeral at Grace Community Church. Burial will take place at Estates of Serenity Cemetery in Marion.
