George D. Pierce, 90, of Marion, passed away at 7:50 am on Friday, October 20, 2023, at Wesleyan Health Care & Rehabilitation Center in Marion. He was born in Jonesville, Michigan, on Monday, September 18, 1933, to Raymond and Ester (McKercher) Pierce. He married Jill E. Gaston, who survives.
George graduated from Jonesville High School and Michigan State University receiving his Bachelors Degree. He served in the United States Army in Korea and was honorably discharged.
Following his military service, he worked as a home builder for many years. George loved fishing on the Tahquamenon River and was an avid MSU and Detroit Tigers fan. He loved to fly with his brother, Bob, who was a pilot, in his airplane and flying remote control airplanes. He loved dogs and will be missed by his three granddogs, Zeke, Miguel, and Jose.
George is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Jill E. Pierce of Marion, IN; son, Steven Pierce of Lansing, MI; daughter, Kelly (Donnie) Miller of Marion, IN; and sister, Carolyn Petrie of Jonesville, MI.
He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Ester Pierce; brother, Robert Pierce; and sister, Barbara Denning.
There will be a family and friends gathering planned in the Summer of 2024.
