Gene Richard Rose, 85, of rural Wabash, Indiana, died at 9:50 pm, Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at his home. He was born on February 25, 1938, in Thomas, Arkansas, to Clarence and Lola (Kuykendall) Rose.
Gene married Sue (Jenkins) Kerr in Wabash on May 2, 1992. He retired from Fisher Body in Marion, Indiana after 18 and a half years, and also owned G&D Insulation, R&R Restoration and Rose’s Repair. Gene was a member of the Wabash American Legion Post 15, Wabash Eagles Lodge, and the Wabash Hanna Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed bowling and playing cards, especially poker.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Rose of Wabash; five children, Beverly Bowman of Marion, Angie Combs of Peru, Indiana, Gene (Jenny) Rose, II, Lola Fay Wandersee, and Donald (Ashley) Rose, all of Wabash; two step children, Kyle Kerr of Wabash, and Keri (Greg) Hammons of Austin, Indiana; three bonus step children, David (Lynn) Amann of Wabash, Melissa (Mitch) Zintsmaster of Colorado, and Kim Amann of Wabash; 21 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; one step grandchild; brother, Lennie (Caroline) Rose of Wabash; and his sister, Dorothy Kerr of Marion. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, James and William Rose, and his sister, Janette Gentner.
Funeral services will be 3:00 pm, Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Pastor Laura Helm officiating. Friends may call 12:30-3:00 pm Tuesday, at the funeral home.
