Franklin A. “Sparky” Garrison

Franklin A. “Sparky” Garrison, 95, of Pennville, IN, passed away on Friday, November 02, 2018 at VA Northern Indiana Health Care System-Marion Campus in Marion, IN.  He was born on Saturday, November 25, 1922, in Montpelier, IN.  He married Mildred E. Fear on Monday, June 21, 1943 in Seattle, Wash; she passed on February 8, 2014. Sparky attended Montpelier High School and served his country in the US Army from March 23, 1943 to December 9, 1945 during WWII. He retired in 1987 from Borg Warner Automotive in Muncie. He was a proud 73 year member of the Millard Brown American Legion Post #156, longtime member of the China-Burma-India-Veterans Association, Montpelier Vol. Fire Department, Knights of Pythia’s (K.O.P Lodge), Montpelier Senior Citizens, longtime Boy Scout leader and was a player agent for the Little League.  Sparky was a member of the Montpelier First Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, flea markets and was an avid wildlife camera man.

Loving survivors include: three sons – Larry F. (Wife, Sandra) Garrison, Grand Blanc, MI, Jim L. (Wife, Cathy) Garrison, Montpelier, IN, Tim E. Garrison, Montpelier, IN, three daughters – Beverly J. (Husband, Dan) Furniss, Hartford City, IN, Cathy H. (Husband, Dennis) Decker, Hartford City, IN, Barbara E. (Husband, Dave) Reidy, Ft. Wayne, IN, Sisters – Jeany (Husband, John) Roark, Whitestown, IN,  Judy (Husband, John) Peck, Spring, TX, 15 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, 3 gr. gr. grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his: father – William Allen Garrison, mother – Goldie (Lamley) Garrison, Wife – Mildred E. Garrison, son – Fredrick Allen Garrison, brothers – Bill, Joe, Bob, George Garrison, Sisters – Betty Kiser, Mary Jane Cutwright, Donna Bennett, Dorthy Sandino and Anna Ward.

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home 109 W. Windsor St. Montpelier on Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

A service to celebrate Sparky’s life will be at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 9, 2018; viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.  Martin Ingram and Ryan Ingram will be officiating and burial will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Montpelier. Military Graveside rites will be performed by the US Army and Millard Brown American Legion Post #156.
