Fr. Frank H. King, Jr.

Matthew 25:23: His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.

Born in Marion to the late Frank H. and Freda M. (McAlister) King, Frank lived his life fully. He was a 1951 graduate of Marion High School and continued his education at Franklin College where he earned his organic chemistry degree in 1955. After his college graduation he was drafted into the United States Army and served honorably until his discharge in 1957. Frank returned to Marion and worked for Essex Wire as the Quality Assurance Manager and retired from BICC in 1993. Frank fought and won a courageous cancer battle in the early 1980’s which called him to begin his faith journey to the priesthood. He was ordained as an Episcopalian priest in 1988 and served as a rector and supply priest in northern Indiana and south west Florida.

On August 8, 1969 he married his best friend, Marilyn Jo “Mick” Campbell. Mick survives in their Marion home. Together, they raised one daughter, Stacey M. (Steve Garza) King, who also survives in Marion.

In his retirement Frank would be found reading, taking in the sun and visiting with neighbors and friends on his back patio. He was an avid I.U. basketball and college football fan and rarely missed an I.U. game. Frank and Mick enjoyed music, gardening and spending their winters in Naples, Florida where they also enjoyed collecting sea shells, walking on the beach and supporting the farmer’s market.

It is often said that a man’s character is measured in trials, but Frank’s character was built on hard work, love and devotion to his wife and daughter, laughter, faithfulness to God and His word. Frank’s trials were overcome by his resilience, strength, humbleness, charity and kindness to all. He looked at life positively in every situation-good or bad. This attitude was contagious as was his laughter. He hoped we would all remember him each time we hear laughter and remember that life is eternally good and we must be joyful even in the midst of sorrow.

Frank is also preceded in death by his sister, Jessamine K. “Jess” Westfall.
