Evelyn Ruth Irelan

Evelyn Ruth Irelan, 86, of North Manchester, Indiana, formerly of rural Roann, Indiana, died at 9:15 am, Sunday, February 4, 2024, at her home.  She was born on July 22, 1937, in Wabash, Indiana, to Harvey W. May Edna (Anderson) Swihart.

Evelyn was a 1955 graduate of Central High School in North Manchester. She first married Richard Bolin; he preceded her in death. She then married Donald Irelan; he preceded her in death in December of 1987. Evelyn owned and operated Noah’s Arc Pet Shop and Antique Store in Roann; and also worked at Schuler Precision Tooling. She enjoyed going to garage sales and watching Nascar with Joe. Evelyn had two parrots, Jacko and Smoke, and her cat Polly. She was a loving mother and grandma, and never knew a stranger.  

She is survived by three children, Joe Bolin of North Manchester, Betty (Scott Sparks) Flitcraft of Roann, and Barbara (Bruce) McGuire of North Manchester; son-in-law, Joey Flitcraft and daughter-in-law, Rhonda Siders, both of Roann; three step-children, Donald (Colleen) Irelan of North Manchester, Liz (Steve) Weddle and Roger Irelan, both of Jefferson, North Carolina, 14 grandchildren, Brittany (Michael Brooks) Bolin, Curt (Gabby) Bolin, Andrew (Ashley Henson) Bolin, Sarah (Jeff) Bradley, Shannon Bolin, Aarron (Michelle) Bolin, Casey (Allison) Bolin, Peyton (Tori) Bogart, Auston Garrett, Joseph Flitcraft, Jewel (Jess) Flitcraft, Bruce ( Carrie Fox) McGuire III, Bryce (Kaylan) McGuire, and Breanna McGuire; three step grandchildren, Ryan Irelan, Chad Weddle, and Jeremy Weddle; and 16 great grandchildren; and her best friend, Ruth Haecker of Morton, Illinois.  She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sons, James Bolin and Jay Bolin, and two grandchildren,  Jasmine Curry, and J.D. Bolin.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm, Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Paw Paw Cemetery, rural Roann.  Friends may call 12-1:00 pm Wednesday, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial is Wabash County Cancer Society.
