Elton P. “Butch” Goodman, 79, Marion, passed away at 7:36 a.m. on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. He was born in Marion on May 5, 1939, and was the son of George W. and Bonnie L. (Netzley) Goodman. On March 10, 1958, Butch married his loving wife, Elizabeth Alene Weaver, and they shared 49 years together before she passed away on April 26, 2007.
Butch was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Korean War. Following his military service, he worked at RCA before being employed at Fisher Body as a welder maintenance worker. He retired in 2001 after 38½ years of service. He was a member of Van Buren American Legion Post #368 and Gas City Moose Lodge #1778. He was a former Cub Scout Leader of Pack #84 and former Webelos Leader. He also had helped his wife lead Girl Scouts Troop #364.
Woodworking, playing golf and Euchre, and working in his garage were just a few of Butch’s favorite things to do.
He will be missed by his four children, Teri Haff, Fort Wayne, Patrick Elton Goodman, Fort Wayne, James Alan Goodman, Marion, and Bart (Debbie) Goodman, Marion; grandchildren, Jamie Haff, Robert Haff, Amanda Goodman, Maiza Goodman, Rachael (DeAnthony) Scott, Sandie Goodman, Raynelle (Frank) Farabella, Alyssa Goodman, and Garrett Goodman; four great-grandchildren, Skylar, Frankie Jr., Naveya, and Korinne; several nieces, nephews, and friends; and his girlfriend and companion, Virginia Lowe.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, George W. Goodman Jr., and his step-father, James M. Guy.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service for Butch.
