Election Board Votes In Favor Of Bunker’s Candidacy

PERU,Indiana – Wednesday afternoon, the Miami County Election Board, consisting of Miami County Clerk Tawna Leffel Sands, Republican representative Judy Sullivan and Democrat Richard Lancaster, met to discuss a hearing following four filed candidates challenges to Wayne Bunker’s declaration of candidacy for the County Council At-Large on the Democrat ballot. The board voted 2-1 in favor of Mr. Bunker after listening to the four candidate challenges. Miami County Clerk Tawna Leffel Sands on why she voted in favor of Mr. Bunker.

Wayne Bunker says he will remain as a Democrat running for County Council At-Large. Democrat Vice Chairman Vickie Wheeler says the Party will NOT support Mr. Bunker.

Voting in Miami County for the upcoming Primary Election Tuesday, May 3rd. Voting locations will be open for the election from 6 AM until 6 PM. Voting centers in Miami County are the Courthouse, Blair Ridge Health Center, Area 5/Senior Center, Parkview United Methodist Church, Denver Baptist Church, Macy Christian Church Fellowship Hall, Converse Town Hall and Bunker Community Center. Early voting will be April 5th thorugh April 29th from 8 AM until 4 PM at the Courthouse and will end at NOON on Monday May 2nd. You can also vote on Saturday, April 23rd and Saturday, April 30th at the Courthouse, Blair Ridge Health Center, Denver Baptist Church, Converse Town Hall and the Bunker Hill Community Center from 10 AM until 7 PM. If you are NOT registered to vote the deadline is Monday April 4th.
