Edgar F. Burchett, 85, Swayzee, passed away at 3:53 pm on Wednesday, August 16, 2023. He was born in Cabell, Kentucky, on Sunday, May 1, 1938, to Oval and Lucille (Graham) Burchett. On May 1, 1964, he married Sandra Davis and she survives.
Edgar graduated from Frankton High School and in 1959 he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served his country. He worked as a welder for RCA/Thompson. He prepared taxes for AARP for free for many years as well. He was a talker who had stories and loved to tell them. He did not know a stranger. He was a very much loved Uncle Ed. After retiring he enjoyed woodworking and built log cabins, covered bridges some of which he donated to charity.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Burchett of Swayzee; daughters, Lynda (Gale) Clevenger, Patricia (Dan Hawkins) Burchett; grandchildren, Douglas Dennis, Amanda (Gabe) Clevenger-Wilkins, Chad (Becca) Clevenger; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Jayden, Ashlyn, Averionna, Aidan, Bentley, Grayson; brother, Roger Dale (Donna) Burchett; sister, Geneva McDole; as well as several precious nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oval and Lucille Burchett; daughter, Rhonda Cox; and sisters, Joyce May and Juanita White.
The family will receive visitors from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral and Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St, Gas City, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Edgar’s life will begin at 2:00 pm with Ron Brake officiating. Burial will take place at a later time at Park Cemetery.
