He also drove the bus for the CLA sports teams to their games, and he loved watching and supporting all of the CLA sports teams.

Throughout the city of Chicago, Doug was involved in many clubs and organizations. He was a member of the Art Institute of Chicago, the Chicago Botanical Gardens, the Field Museum, the Arlington Heights Historical Museum, the Chicago Coin Club, the American Numismatic Association, and a member and docent at the Oriental Institute. Doug was a lifelong learner and took many courses through the University of Chicago. He participated in seminars at many of the previously named organizations. He was a member of the Old Bell Tower Church in Sharon, Wisconsin. He was in the Civil War Historic Club and a regular at the Coffee Cup.

Doug is survived by his mother, Beverly Kesot Baldwin; sister, Sandra Maggart (Zach) and their children, Emma and William Maggart; sister, Sharon Baldwin; and his cat, Kuyper. He was a loving uncle to his niece, Emma, and nephew, William.
