Dorothy E. Cravens, 91, passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2018 in Millers Merry Manor, Marion. She was born in Michigan City on May 5, 1927 to the late Samuel C. and Olga (Denow) Taylor.
She spent most of her life in the Grant County area. In 1949 Dorothy married Merrett L. Cravens. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1993. She retired from Foster Forbes in 1988 after 34 years of service. When able, Dorothy attended Grace Community Church. She enjoyed playing cards, talking to people and going to church. She loved sweets and her favorite was strawberry ice cream.
She is survived by her son, Merrett L. Cravens, Marion; granddaughters, Kelly Cravens, Marion; Holley (Brandon) Peterson, Gas City; great-grandchildren, Chase Whitehead and Alexyia Peterson, Gas City; Trey Rangel, Marion.
She is also preceded in death by her brothers, Bill Taylor, Harold Taylor, Ed Taylor; sister Norma G. McCarty.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, November 30, 2018 at Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Marion Chapel, 2722 South Washington Street, Marion, with Chaplain Darrell Smith officiating. Burial will immediately follow at the Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion, Indiana. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11am – 1pm on Friday, November 30, 2018.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the funeral home to assist with expenses.
