Charles E. Lindsey, 80, Carson, CA, passed away on Friday, November 9, 2018. He was born in Marion on September 7, 1938, to the late Arthur and Thelma (Peak) Lindsey. He married his first wife, Gladys Garner, and she passed away. He then married Mildred Thomas, and she survives.
He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served his country from 1955-1958. He was a very loving husband, father, and uncle, enjoyed spending time with his family, and loved to BBQ. Four years ago, Charles was baptized at Buggs Chapel in Marion. The door to his home was always open to everyone, and he will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred; daughter, Daphne Starling, CA; brothers, James Lindsey, Marion, and Donald Lindsey, CA; and several nephews and nieces.
Preceding him in death were his son, Shawn Taylor; brothers, Arthur Lindsey Jr., Ora Lindsey Sr., and Howard Lindsey; sisters, Thelma Bounds and Lorabelle Payne; nephews, Alvin Lindsey and Ora Lindsey Jr.; and two great-nieces, Cicley Lindsey-Asomani and Sonya Shelton.
Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, November 30, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. Family and friends will then process to Grant Memorial Park, 1606 W. 26th St., for a graveside service.
