Doris Jean Cook

Doris Jean Cook, 83, of Marion, passed away at 12:02 pm on Friday, May 27, 2022, in her home. She was born in Paris, Kentucky, on Sunday, March 26, 1939, to William and Gladys (Harris) Smith.

At the age of 83, one could ask, “Where has time gone? Was my time well spent?” We can be assured that Doris’ was. She was the wife to Jerry, whom she loved deeply. As Greg and Kim’s mother, she loved them wholeheartedly. Her role as Grandma was one that she relished. Being able to be there for them at any time gave her great pleasure. Doris became “GiGi” to her great-grandbabies. During this time in her life, they brought great joy while helping to keep her mind alert as she struggled with her illness. The one role she had no choice in playing was that of being a twin to her sister, Deloris. Identical? No. Many shared traits? No. They were different as night and day, yet they each depended on the other in their own ways. This was great for those who loved them, for we wouldn’t have experienced sunny days or starry nights and the beauty that each one brought. With compassion and support, Doris played the roles of Aunt and Friend. She was always willing to listen or help where needed. How did Doris play all of these roles? It was with class and her belief in God. Under His wings you are now. We will always carry your memory in our hearts.
