Donna M. Royce, 85, Martinsville, passed away at 5:10 pm on Thursday, November 19, 2020, in her home in Martinsville, Indiana surrounded by family. She was born in Summitville, Indiana, on Thursday, March 28, 1935, to Sherman and Velma (Montgomery) Welch. On July 7, 1956, she married Jack Royce and they began a life-long love story.
Donna graduated from Van Buren High School in the class of 1953. She anxiously looked forward to every class reunion.
She was a homemaker for all of her life and worked with STAR Bank of Upland. She was the ultimate Girl Scout Leader, and the Room Mother and Party Planner for her children and grandchildren. Donna was a member of New Mulberry Home Extension Club. She will be remembered as loving to read and enjoyed watching the birds.
Survivors include her two daughters, Nancy (Dennis) Armstrong of Paragon and Teresa Royce of Marietta, GA; son, Doug (Jean Ann) Royce of Sunman; two grandsons, Jarrod (Anna) Armstrong of Upland and Michael (Kayley) Armstrong of Martinsville; and four great-grandsons, Owen, Connor, Flynn, and Dean.
Donna was recently separated from Jack when he passed on March 27, 2020; also preceding her in death are her parents, Sherman L. (Velma L.) Welch; three sisters, Patsy D. (John) Walters, Betty Lou Welch, and Georgianna Irene Welch; and a brother, Sherman (Patricia) Welch.
The family will receive visitors from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main Street, Gas City, IN.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Donna’s life, and the 64 year marriage to Jack, will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at the Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel. Pastor Mick Simpkins will be officiating with burial following at Gardens of Memory.
At the family’s request, it is asked that those attending please wear a face mask.
