Donald E. Leach, 94, Gas City, passed away at 10:15 pm on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne. He was born on Sunday, October 28, 1928, to Vilas and Lydia (Hardy) Leach. On October 28, 1949, he married Nancy Ann Lewis who preceded him in 2016.
Donald graduated from Gas City High School and then served in the US Army from 1946-1947. He enjoyed bowling and golf. He was a member of the Gas City Masonic Lodge 645, the Gas City Moose Lodge, the VFW, and the American Legion of Jonesboro. He was a volunteer fireman in Gas City from 1962-1993. In 2010, he was named “Mississinewa Super Fan”.
Survivors include his daughter, Vicki (Mark) Phillips of Gas City; son, Timothy D. (April) Leach of Gas City; grandsons, Zach (Melena) Leach of Gas City, Ethan (Alexis) Leach of Marion, Jeremy (Amy) McKee of Gas City; granddaughter, Aimee (Ryan) Sellers; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vilas and Lydia Leach; wife, Nancy Ann Leach; and 6 siblings.
The family will receive visitors from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm on Friday, March 17, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral and Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a Funeral Service to celebrate Donald’s life will begin at 2:00 pm with Rev. Ken Dykhoff officiating. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery.
