Donald E. Beyer

Donald E. Beyer, 86, Jonesboro, passed away surrounded by his family at 8:43 pm on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at his home in Jonesboro. He was born in Sweetser, Indiana, on January 2, 1937, to Edward and Laura (Patrick) Beyer.  On June 21, 1978, he married Sharon Windsor, and she survives.  

Donald’s father, Edward, was a tomato farmer and owned several factories over the years which lead to Donald loving his job at Manwell Food Service and later Red Gold. He was a tomato connoisseur and was known for his tomato stand. He had a green thumb and loved gardening. More than anything, he loved his family.

In addition to his wife, Sharon Beyer survivers include his children, Melissa Stevens, Tina (Russ) Coyler, Andrew E. Beyer, Bethany (Brett Ware), and Mitchell Beyer; grandchildren; Cassie Jackson, Monica Stevens, Brandon McGibbon, and Tracy Ledstrum; several great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara C. Stearns; and special nieces, Donna Sue Vincent and Laura Lee Melton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Shane Jackson; granddaughter, Janell McGibbon; and brother, Herman Beyer.

The family will receive visitors from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Donald’s life will begin at 2:00 pm.  Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
