Dilonna “Lonni” Hastings

On Monday, April 1, 2024, Dilonna “Lonni” Hastings went to be with her Lord.  She was born in Marion, Indiana, on January 17, 1952.  She was a proud graduate of the class of 1970.  On July 31, 2014, Lonni married Jim Hastings.

Lonni was an NFL fan and was proud to be a member of our fantasy football league.  She would boast that she was the only girl ever in the 20+ year league.  A few years ago, she won the league and still has the $250 to prove it.  I would often ask her, “Can I get a couple of bucks?”  She would say, “No!  All I have is my fantasy football money.”  Then, off we would go to the ATM.  That is $250 that will never be spent.  Lonni was also very proud of our men and women who served and continue to serve our country.

Lonni never had a bad word to say about anyone.  If you met her, sooner or later, like it or not, you WOULD be her friend for life.

Lonni was the eldest child of Dee and Roy Ferguson.  She had one son, Jeff Galbraith, whom she loved and cherished.  She has two sisters, Lori (Steve) Tilley and Suzi (Andy) Cannon.  She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and brothers, Tom and Marty.  She loved her entire family and would also go “to the moon and back” for them all.

A memorial service will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.  Pastor Dan Van Cise will be officiating.  Lonni will be cremated with interment taking place at a later date at Marion National Cemetery.

If you have a minute, please take the time and say a prayer for Lonni, that she is now resting in peace.  You don’t need to pray that she goes to heaven because, of anyone I ever knew, she has already punched her ticket to heaven.

Lonni, I loved you when I first met you, and each day I grew to love you more.  You were the real deal and may you rest in peace.–Your loving husband, Jim.
