Denver Ray Lyons, 86, of rural Roann, Indiana, died at 11:25 pm, Friday, October 27, 2023, at his home. He was born on June 8, 1937, in Morehead, Kentucky, to William E. and Martha (Stevens) Lyons.
Ray was a 1955 graduate of Morehead High School. He married Lorain Wheeler in Wabash on November 1, 1957; she died April 10, 2017. He worked at General Tire in Wabash 37 years, retiring in 1992. Ray enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, woodworking, and playing cards.
He is survived by three children, Valerie Dowdal and Brian (Janet) Lyons, both of Roann, and Patty (Rick Stamper) Haupert of Columbia City, Indiana; daughter-in-law, Cathy Lyons of Roann; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and his sister, Evelyn Conn of Morehead. He was also preceded in death by his parents, son Bill Lyons; brother, Frank Lyons, and his sister, Rena “Sue” Holley.
Graveside services and burial will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Roann Community Cemetery, Roann, with Rev. John Cook and Rev. Jackie Weaver officiting. Friends may call 12-1:30 pm Thursday, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Roann Chapel, 335 S. Chippewa Road, Roann.
