Delores M. Helvie, age 87, of Huntington, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018, at 7:20 pm at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester. She was raised in the Pilgrims Holiness Church and attended Nazarene and Wesleyan churches. She had worked at Caswell-Runyan and enjoyed playing games with family and friends.
Delores was born July 19, 1930, in South Bend, IN, the daughter of Fred and Ethel (Pearson) Hamman. On March 2, 1957 she married her beloved husband Harold G. Helvie in Bourbon, IN and he passed away December 3, 1969. She is survived by 2 daughters Lou Ann Helvie and Joyce Crocken, a son James Louis Helvie, 5 grandchildren, and 4 sisters Marcella Ratliff of Bourbon, Janice Brubaker of North Manchester, Angie (Floyd) Maxton of Columbia City, and Vangie Hoag of Columbia City. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a brother Robert Hamman.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 2 from 10:00 – 11:00 am preceding the 11:00 am funeral service at Deal-Rice Funeral Home- Huntington Chapel. Pastor Tim Bushong will officiate. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Andrews.
