Debra Ann Downam, 69, Jonesboro, passed away at 9:05 am on Thursday, May 5, 2022. She was born in Belzoni, Mississippi, on Wednesday, June 4, 1952, to Curtis and Faye (Surber) Leitaker. On June 12, 1969, she married Joseph “Joe” M. Downam, and he survives.
Debra attended and also then worked for Marion Community Schools. She attended The River Church and enjoyed spending time with her church family, camping, biking, fishing and boating, gardening. She loved working in her yard and tending to her flowers. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family whom she loved very much.
Survivors include her daughters, Tracy (Raymon) Randolph of Paris, TN, Stacy (Brett) Davis of Jonesboro; son, Joseph “Joey” M. (Misty) Downam, Jr. of Jonesboro; brother, Roger (Rosie) Leitaker of Bay Springs, MS; sister, Becky (George) Welford of NC; grandchildren, Clinton Randolph, Colton Randolph, Chelsea Rae (Jared) Wagener, Chelsy Faye Strausbaugh, Malory Rae Strausbaugh, McKayla Kay (Jacob Yeater) Montgomery, Kandis Downam, Lexi Downam, Wayd Downam, Makayla Downam; great-grandchildren, Cayden, Kynleigh, Briar; and two bonus sons whom she loved like her own, Jeff Wilson, and Devin Tyler.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Faye Leitaker.
The family will receive visitors from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, May 9, 2022, at Needham-Storey-Wampner, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main Street, Gas City, IN.
A Funeral Service to celebrate Debra’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at the funeral home. Rev. Mark Atkinson will be officiating with burial following at Grant Memorial Park.
