Alice Bowman Wills, 91, Yorktown, passed away at home at 8:30 am on Thursday, May 5, 2022. She was born in Huntington, Indiana, on Sunday, October 12, 1930, to Allen and Ruth (Wood) Bowman. On June 2, 1952, she married Gordon F. Wills and he preceded her.
Alice graduated from Marion High School in 1948. She was a teacher at Brainerd Indian School and Mobridge School then a Librarian at Marion College/Indiana Wesleyan University. She was a member of College Wesleyan Church as well as the Association of Librarians of Christian Schools.
Survivors include her daughters, Margaret Christner of Brazil, IN, Nancy (Jerry) Groshong of Yorktown, IN, and Janet (Rex) White of Fishers, IN; 7 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Ruth Bowman; husband, Gordon F. Wills; sisters, Alberta (Earl) Metz Sparks, Florence Bowman; brother, Lyman Bowman; and brother-in-law, Floyd Metz.
The family will receive visitors from 3 pm to 7 pm on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at College Wesleyan Church, 200 E. 38th St., Marion, IN.
A funeral to celebrate Alice’s life will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at the church. Rev. Steve DeNeff will be officiating with burial following at Grant Memorial Park.
