David W. Green

David W. Green, 85, Swayzee, passed away at 3:56 pm on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Marion Health. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Friday, May 6, 1938, to William and Waitstill (Earlywine) Green. On June 27, 1959, he married Sharon Morrison, who survives.

David graduated from Swayzee High School and received an associate’s degree from Laine Technical Institute Indianapolis.  He was a farmer for many years, and he took his job seriously.  He truly was a steward of the land and farming was his calling in life.  As a member of the Grant County Council, David always fought for the citizens of Grant County.  He was an avid reader and enjoyed his trips to the Swayzee Public Library.  More than anything, though, David loved his family and was always there for them.

David was a member of Church of Christ at Normal, Grant County Council for 20 years (including being president for many terms), Grant County Fair Board, Grant County Extension Board, Grant County Beef Association, Indiana Hereford Association, and Swayzee Tractor Club.

In addition to his wife of nearly 65 years, survivors include his daughters, Beth (Andy) Clock of Swayzee and Nicole (Shane) Edwards of Swayzee; granddaughters, Serena (Brant) Howard, Mia Edwards, and Lilly Edwards; grandson, Austin Clock; great-granddaughter, Lucy Ann Howard; and brother, Robert (Kathleen) Green of Grass Valley, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive visitors from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, March 4, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Rybolt Chapel, 314 N. Washington St., Swayzee, IN.

A funeral service to celebrate David’s life will begin at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Rybolt Chapel, preceded by one hour of additional visitation beginning at 11:00 am. Ed Bridegroom will be officiating with burial following at Grant Memorial Park.
