David Dean Gibson

David Dean Gibson, 58, Marion, passed away in his home at 12:20 p.m. on Friday, January 25, 2019.  He was born in Marion on December 5, 1960, to Robert Dean Gibson and to Betty May (Buteau) Gibson.

David graduated from Eastbrook High School in 1979.  He started his career with Corning Glass Works in Bluffton, where he worked for 5 years.  He was then employed with Active Products and worked there for 15 years.  He continued his career with PCA in Gas City, where he worked for less than a year.  He finished out at Sonoco Products for the past 15 years up until the time he became disabled.

David always enjoyed riding his motorcycle and participating in Sturgis Bike Week in South Dakota.  He was outgoing, sarcastic, willing to help people whenever he could, and had a heart of gold.  He dearly loved his “grandbaby” who called him Pop-Pop.

He is survived by his mother, Betty May (Richard “Dick”) Gibson; son, Robert K. Gibson, Marion; daughter, Olivia K. (Michael Schaumleffel) Gibson, Jonesboro; granddaughter, Amaryllis R. Schaumleffel; grandson on the way, Quinlan Dean Schaumleffel; brothers, Douglas D. Gibson, Upland, and Daniel D. (Deb) Gibson, Hartford City; sister, Dawn D. Monahan, Montpelier; and his life partner, Linda Burnett Gibson.

His father, Robert Dean Gibson, preceded him in death in 1984.

At the family’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral service for David.
