Charlotte S. Mitchell, age 94, of Andrews since 1991, and formerly of Bensonville, IL, passed away Monday, October 30, 2017, at 10:05 am at her home. She graduated from Farragut High School in Chicago, IL in 1941. She was a secretary at Carpenter Steel in Melrose Park, IL from 1965-1985. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Lagro, Dallas Township Home Extension Club and Andrews Library Book Club. She was a cat lover and enjoyed collecting bears.
Charlotte was born June 24, 1923, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Glenn Oliver and Stella Lucille (Holman) Sawyer. On May 30, 1954 she married her beloved husband Richard A. “Mitch” Mitchell in Chicago and he passed away November 28, 1983. She is survived by a step-son Rick (Diane) Mitchell of Chicago, cousin Carolyn Bitzer of Andrews and niece Carole Holdsworth of Chicago. She was preceded in death by a brother Glenn Sawyer.
Visitation will be held Friday November 3 from4-7 pm at Deal-Rice Funeral Home-Andrews Chapel preceding the 7:00 pm funeral service at the funeral home. Pastor Randy Webb will officiate. A graveside service will be held Monday November 6 at 2:00 pm (1:00 pm central time) at Oakridge Cemetery, Hillside, IL.
