Chandra Kanta, 84, Marion, passed away in her home at 10 a.m. on Sunday, July 1, 2018. She was born in Hyderabad, India, on April 5, 1934, and was the daughter of the late Dilsukh and Deva (Bai) Ram. Chandra was married to Vithal Pershad Sehgal, who preceded her in death on July 4, 1985.
Chandra loved music and received her Master’s degree in Music. She was a college professor in India before moving to the U.S. over 25 years ago. She enjoyed teaching music, knitting sweaters, and embroidery.
She will be missed by her children, Shiv (Dr. Kavita Raj) Sehgal, Archana (Rajiv) Barma, and Hemanth (Rina) Sehgal; grandchildren, Amogh Sehgal, Abishek Sehgal, Ashmita (Nikhil) Vasudeo, Aakansha Barma, Sushen Sehgal, and Sumedh Sehgal; brother, Kishen (Gayatri) Pershad; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
In addition to her parents and her loving husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. Karan Pershad and Arjun Pershad.
A prayer service for Chandra will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. Priest Ashwini Kumar will be officiating. Final viewing will take place after the prayer service, and then immediate family will proceed to Northern Indiana Crematory for final services.
