Harriette M. Kennedy

Harriette M. Kennedy, 91, Marion, passed away in her home on Monday, July 2, 2018.  She was born in Fort Wayne on August 24, 1926, to the late Kenneth J. and Eugenia “Jenny” C. (LaCroix) Kennedy.

Harriette graduated from Marion High School and started working as a teller at Marion National Bank at the age of eighteen.  She was eventually promoted to Vice President and Auditor.  During her 49-year tenure, the bank changed names numerous times and is now Regions Bank.  She was actively involved in several community organizations and women’s groups, one being the Women’s Department Club.

Harriette was a wonderful artist.  Painting was her therapy, and she especially loved painting portraits and water color flowers.  Harriette was very generous with her artwork.  Many paintings can be found in the homes of her family, friends, local businesses, and auctions for the benefit of her church.  She even won many awards from her entries in state competitions.

She loved children and doing good for others.  She was not only very devoted to her siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends but also to her Catholic faith.  Harriette helped countless people become members of the church.  She always made herself available to minister to others.  For years, she was a Eucharist minister to the sick and shut-ins, administering communion and praying with them.  She was also very active in the church, participating on many committees and in the RCIA program.  Her faith in God and Jesus was her true love.

She will be missed by her brother, Kenneth Kennedy, Marion; nieces and nephews, Martin Kennedy, Marion, Charles Kennedy, Ocala, Florida, Elaine Lines, Marion, Ellen Barker, Jefferson, Texas, Patrick “PJ” Kennedy, Marion, Andrew “Andy” Kennedy, Marion, Edward Seeger, Falls Church, Virginia, Janice (Seeger) Shaw, Oro Valley, Arizona, Michael Kennedy, Biloxi, Mississippi, Christopher Kennedy, Noblesville, Debbie Wright, Lafayette, Kenneth Wells, Kokomo, Kathy Harris, Kokomo, Linda Beaver, Riverview, Florida, Cindy Romanchuk, Duluth, Georgia, Judi Kennedy-Scribner, Churubusco, and Julia Lawson, Columbia City; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Also preceding her in death were her brothers and sisters-in-law, LaCroix (Jennie) Kennedy, Paul (Matilda) Kennedy, William (Dorthea) Kennedy, and Phillip Kennedy; sisters, Joan (Edward) Seeger and Mercedes (Kenneth) Wells; niece, Nancy Kennedy; and nephew, Dennis (Paula) Seeger.

The family will receive visitors from 9:30 to 11:45 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Following the visitation, a Mass of Christian Burial for Harriette will be held at 12:15 p.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1031 W. Kem Rd., Marion, IN.  Father Christopher Roberts will be officiating with burial following at Estates of Serenity, Marion.
