Betty Ruth Young, 79 of Huntington passed away at 9:45 am on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Norwood Health & Rehabilitation Center. Betty was a 1958 graduate of Belpre, Ohio High School. She had worked as a technical aide in the x-ray department at Roane General Hospital in Spencer, West Virginia. She and her husband moved to Huntington in 2005. She enjoyed shopping. Betty attended First Nazarene Church in Huntington. She was a former member of the Spencer Baptist Temple.
Betty was born on January 5, 1938 in Roane County, West Virginia, the daughter of Ira and Grethel (Redic) Barickman.
She was united in marriage to James O. Young on December 5, 1958 in West Virginia. Her husband survives.
Additional survivors include a daughter: Marti (Bruce) Evans of Huntington; two brothers: Roger Barickman of Cocoa Beach, FL; Robert Barickman of Florida; a sister: Rosalie Tanner of South Charleston, WV; two grandsons: Brett Evans and Drew Evans.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Ira and Grethel Barickman.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 10:00 am with one hour of visitation prior to the service at Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Pastor Gene Vickery officiating.
Interment will be at the Beech Grove Cemetery in Huntington County.
