Barbara Barron Hiers

Barbara Barron Hiers, 64, of Peru, passed away peacefully at 4:20 p.m., Monday, January 7, 2019 at Wellbrooke of Wabash, surrounded by her family. She was born in Peru on August 20, 1954, the daughter of John C. and Patricia M. (Arland) Barron. Barbara was a 1972 graduate of Maconaquah High School and was a Court Reporter in Miami County Superior Court II, working with Judge Dan Banina for over 21 years. Barbara enjoyed traveling. Her most recent trips included Croatia and Naples, Florida. She was a dog lover at heart, especially to her faithful companions, Willa and Izzy. Barb also enjoyed relaxing on the beach, attending concerts, preparing family holiday meals, her card club, shopping and making her famous salsa. Surviving is her father, John C. Barron of Peru; her sisters Paula (Lex) Curry of Fishers and Julie (Mike) DeLucenay of Syracuse; nephews Adam DeLucenay and Alex Curry; niece Ashley DeLucenay Lakoskey; Aunts Judy (Don) Jaberg and Susie Arland Hebert, and dear longtime friend Terry Click. Barbara was preceded in death by her mother in 2010. Visitation of family and friends will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main St., Peru. A Memorial Service celebrating the life of Barbara Barron Hiers, will follow at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Adam Mauman officiating. The family would like to send a special thanks to Barbara’s caregivers at Logansport Memorial Hospital and at Wellbrooke; along with her “angel” caregiver Terri Grossi. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made through the funeral home to City of Peru Animal Care & Control and St. Charles Catholic Church.
