New Peru Winery put on hold due to Government Shutdown

This from Pharostribune.com:
PERU, IN – Jason McKeever had planned to open his tap room and winery in Peru by the end of the month, serving up craft beers and spirits. But now, the project has been put on hold indefinitely. The federal agency that issues permits to new craft breweries and wineries is closed during the partial government shutdown that is now going into its third week. McKeever said he’s been working to launch his business in Peru, called City Wineworks, since September, when he signed a lease for a building at 69 N. Broadway and started filing paperwork to receive permits from the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), which is the controlling entity for craft breweries and wineries.

McKeever said the TTB agent he’s been working with said the bureau had thousands of pending permits at the point the agency closed in December.
