Audrey N. Boyer

Audrey N. Boyer, aged 84, met an untimely end on October 23, 2023, due to a car accident in Bunker Hill, Indiana.  She was born on September 5, 1939 in White County, Indiana to Homer G. Haskins and Dorothy H. (Adsit) Haskins.  She married Barton H. Boyer III in June of 1961.

Audrey graduated from Burnetsville High School in Burnettsville, Indiana, in 1957, and was a proud Burnettsville Bee!  Sting ’em!  She went on to attend the Indiana Business College where she graduated with a Secretarial Degree, which she put to good use throughout her career.  She channeled her skills to oversee the loan department of the Grissom Federal Credit Union on Grissom Air Force Base, for over three decades.

Audrey worked extremely hard, while raising her two children alone. She played the role of mother and father, in a time when that wasn’t common.  Despite these struggles, she always provided a loving and warm home.

She loved reading, traveling, and cooking for her family.  She thoroughly enjoyed watching her hummingbirds and cardinals outside her favorite bay window.  She was a closet philanthropist, who frequently gave anonymously to anyone she knew to be in need.  Christmas was always an extra special holiday with delicious food, presents, Christmas carols played on vinyl, and her signature Christmas sugar cookies.

Audrey is survived by her two children:  Scott G. Boyer, Mooresville, North Carolina, and Suzanne J. Reed (Craig), Forest, Indiana.  Three grandchildren:  Alicia A. Ferguson, Kokomo, Indiana, Dane C. Householder (De) Clinton, Indiana, and Laura Boyer, Mooresville, North Carolina.  Also two great-grandchildren:  Maverick Evans and Jocelyn Madden, both of Kokomo, Indiana, and a niece:  Darla (Haskins) Crabb (Mike) of Monticello, Indiana.

Audrey is preceded in death by her parents, Homer G. Haskins and Dorothy H. (Adsit) Haskins, as well as her brother, Perry G. Haskins.

Friends and family are invited to remember Audrey at the First Baptist Church of Bunker Hill, Indiana, 179 W Broadway St, on November 2, 2023, from 2pm – 4pm. A memorial service will commence at 4pm, followed by a meal in her honor.

In lieu of flowers (that our cats will eat), contributions in Audrey’s memory can be made to the First Baptist Church of Bunker Hill, Indiana, her church home for five decades.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Flowers-Leedy & Allen Funeral Home.  Family and friends may sign the online guestbook at www.FlowersLeedyAllen.com.
