Michael Lee Nelson, I, 63, Marion, passed away at 11:55 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. He was born in Bluffton, Indiana, on September 4, 1960, to James and Yvonne (Ritchie) Nelson.
Michael loved fishing, camping, Harley’s, and hunting. Michael was a handyman and loved fixing things. He could fix any and everything.
He worked as the groundskeeper at I.O.O.F Estates of Serenity Cemetery in Marion for several years. He also worked at Marion Vault for several years.
Survivors include his children, Janelle Nelson, Kayla (Michael) Red, and Victoria Nelson; grandchildren, Jaelynn, Mi’Kayla, Hannah, Davi’Onte, Landon, Drae’von, Kay’Auna, Michael, and Grayson; two great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; and siblings, James Nelson, Gail Nelson, Lisa Nelson, and Ron Nelson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Tammie Leah Nelson; son, Mikey Nelson, Jr.; grandparents; and sisters, Belinda Kay and Terry Diane.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Michael’s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will take place at Estates of Serenity Cemetery.
