Arlene Louise Kissinger

Arlene Louise Kissinger, 84, North Manchester, entered Heaven on September 30, 2023. The daughter of the late James W. and Carrie Louise (Hosler) Reid, Arlene was born on November 3, 1938, in Larwill, Indiana.

Shortly after graduating from Larwill High School in 1956, Arlene met William Douglas Kissinger after he had returned from the military. They met in South Whitley and quickly developed a deep, long-lasting love. The two married on November 2, 1957, and spent over six decades building a beautiful life together. Bill and Arlene started their married life in Silver Lake. Arlene worked as a school bus driver, ensuring every child in her care made it to school and home safely. She first drove for Whitko Community Schools and later for Lakeland School Corporation after moving to LaGrange County. She also worked for area grocery stores for several years.

Bill and Arlene moved to North Manchester in 1986. Arlene worked in the Manchester College bookstore before retiring in 1992. During their time in North Manchester, Arlene and Bill joined North Manchester United Methodist Church. In their younger years, Arlene and Bill owned a home on Wrestler Lake, where they loved to boat and take their children and grandchildren tubing.

The loving memory of Arlene Kissinger will be forever cherished by her husband of nearly sixty-six years, William “Bill” Kissinger, North Manchester; sons, William A. (Vicki) Kissinger, Boise, Idaho and John E. (Pam) Kissinger, Fowlerville, Michigan; daughter, Cheryl L. (Ronald) McCoy, Huntington; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren with one on the way. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, James Reid and Carrie Reid Sheets; her son, James R. Kissinger; and three brothers, Howard W., Robert J., and Glen E. Reid.

Family and friends may call Wednesday, October 4, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at McKee Mortuary, 1401 State Road 114 West, North Manchester. Funeral services will begin at the conclusion of calling with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be held at South Whitley Cemetery, 7745 State Road 14, South Whitley, Indiana.
