Annette Sue Crook Chris

Annette Sue Crook Chris, 77, of Sweetser, passed away at 5:14 pm on Sunday, October 3, 2021, in her home. She was born in Peru on May 3, 1944, to Ferron and Bonita (Schmidt) Crook. On June 25, 1963, she married Lawrence “Ed” Chris, and he preceded her in death on January 5, 2014.

Annette graduated from Peru High School in 1962. She was the CEO of Annette’s Treasures and Bldg Materials in Marion.

Annette was an amazing wife, mother, and grandmother who dedicated herself to her family. She enjoyed crafts, nature, music, cooking, crocheting, and sewing. She cherished her beloved animals. Christmas was Annette’s absolute favorite time of the year. She was very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a servant’s heart and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. Annette had an unconditional love for her entire family and her friends.

Survivors include her daughters, Laura Chris of Sweetser, Jennifer (Darin) Judd of American Canyon, CA, Deborah (Andrew) Lindsay of Greensboro, NC, and DeAnna (Matthew Ballas) Chris of Lincoln, NE; son, Jeff (Christine) Chris of Aberdeen, ID; grandchildren, Jordan Chris, Chase Chris, Joshua Colungo, Richard Connor Judd, Preston Judd, Erin Hodges, Caleb Judd, Andrew “Drew” Lindsay, Jonathan Lindsay, Natalie Tucker, Adam Lindsay, David “Christopher” Chris, Chandler Ballas, Keeling Ballas, Bailey Gregory, and Makayla Gregory; 12 great-grandchildren with 5 on the way; brothers, Dennis (Linda) Crook of Marion and Kenneth Crook of Peru, IN; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to her loving husband of 51 years, Lawrence “Ed” Chris, Annette was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Justin Lee Chris; and brother, Joel Todd Crook.

A memorial service to celebrate Annette’s life will take place on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1465 E. Bradford St., Marion, IN. Bishop Andrew Sorensen will be officiating.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her best friend of 68 years, Sarah Brown; Heart to Heart Hospice, especially Katie and Heather; and Dr. Sedaghat, for their amazing care and compassion in helping bring Momma home.
