Judith A. “Jude” Simpkin

Judith A. “Jude” Simpkins, 67, Gas City, passed away at 8:25 am on Friday, March 22, 2024, at Marion Health. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Sunday, November 11, 1956, to Dale and Lorraine (Wood) Cragun.  On February 26, 1977, she married Michael Simpkins and he survives.  

Jude graduated from Mississinewa High School in 1975 and attended Tucker Area Vocation where she earned her associates degree to become an LPN. She worked for 15 years at the VA Northern Indiana Health Care System. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She loved watching her kids and grandkids play sports, traveling to Myrtle Beach, playing BINGO, listening to music, and was an avid Colts, SF Giants, and Purdue fan. She was like a mother to many of her sons’ friends. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.  

Survivors include her husband, Michael Simpkins of Gas City; sons, Ryan (Danielle) Simpkins of Marion, Marcus (Kelly) Simpkins of Hartford City; grandchildren, Lexi (Jesse Plummer) Cruzan of Gas City, Jaxon Simpkins of Marion, Jesse Simpkins of Marion; brother, Tim (Michelle) Cragun of Gas City; sister, Susan Cragun of Marion; brothers-in-law, Mitch (Inge) Simpkins, Buck (Deana) Simpkins, Mick (Ellen) Simpkins; nephews and nieces, Brandon (Amanda) Cragun, AJ Cragun, Jake Simpkins, Mickey (Austin) Huntington, Lindy Simpkins, Luke (Evangelina) Simpkins; mother-in-law, Shirley Simpkins of Gas City, as well as great-niece and nephew, Kynslee and Karter; and special friends, Steve (Billie) Atkinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Lorraine Cragun; sister, Daletta Cragun; and father-in-law, Dave Simpkins, nephew, Travis Simpkins; and great-niece Kamdyn.

The family will receive visitors from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St, Gas City, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Jude’s life will begin at 7:00 pm with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating.
