Wendell B. King, 75, of Bluffton, IN, passed away at 2:25 PM on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN.  He was born on Wednesday, December 24, 1941, in Warren, IN.  He married Linda Banter on Saturday, March 11, 1967 in Warren; together the two have shared 50 years of marriage.  Wendell was a 1959 graduate of Warren High School. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany from 1964-1966. He received the good conduct and Army commendation medals. Wendell retired from Dana in Ft. Wayne, after 30 years of service. He made a patent while at Dana. After retirement Wendell went into several different business ventures. He started King Park Development, where he bought and sold businesses. He loved spending time with his family and always looked forward to their yearly family vacations to Daytona, FL. He was a 30 year season ticket holder for Indiana Basketball. Wendell was an avid coin collector, enjoyed going to the Indy 500 and raising cattle. Wendell and Linda attend Epworth United Methodist Church in Bluffton.

 

Loving survivors include: Wife – Linda (Banter) King, Bluffton, IN, Daughter – Lora (Eric) Dettmer, Zanesville, IN, Son – Chris (Melanie) King, Atkinson, NC, Grandchildren – Ashton (Jessie) Click, Bluffton, IN, Logan Dettmer, Zanesville, IN, Lesley Dettmer, Zanesville, IN, Henry King, Atkinson, NC and Great Grandson – Zander Click, Bluffton, IN.

 

He was preceded in death by his: Father – Russell K. King, Mother – Wilma Virginia (Keffer) King, Sister – Carolyn Harris, and Brothers – Gene King, Ron King and Gary King.

 

Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Glancy – H. Brown & Son Funeral Home 203 N Matilda St. Warren on Friday, May 26, 2017 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

 

A service to celebrate Wendell’s life will be at Glancy – H. Brown & Son Funeral Home at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 27, 2017 with Rev. Marlene Ellis, Tony Garton and Rev. Larry Taylor officiating.  Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Warren.
