Walter G. Yoder

Walter G. Yoder, 84 of Markle passed away at 10:40 pm on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Tipton Place in Huntington. Walt was a 1952 graduate of Cromwell High School. He was an Army veteran, serving during the Korean War. He had worked at Tippecanoe Siding for many years and later worked at Walmart in Huntington for many years, retiring in the early 2000’s. He was a stock car driver and had worked at the Warsaw Raceway as a flagman for many years back in the 1960’s. Walt was an avid fisherman and woodworker, he loved his tractors and enjoyed going to antique tractor shows and sprint car races. He was a member of the Lime City Cruisers Car Club and was also into radio controlled airplanes which he also built and was involved in several clubs.

Walt was born on June 25, 1933 in Syracuse, Indiana, the son of Leander T. and Aura B. (Weimer) Yoder.

He was united in marriage to Judith E. Huffman on April 24, 1987 in Louisville, Kentucky. She preceded him in death on May 26, 2015.

Survivors include a son: Douglas Yoder of Kitty Hawk, NC; three daughters: Cheryl Russell of Elizabeth City, NC; Susan Feehery of Chesapeake, VA; Christina Greulach of Middlebury, IN: several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son: David Yoder, a brother: Charles Yoder and a sister: Louise “Sis” Yoder.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2017 from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.

Funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at 3:00 pm following visitation at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with Pastor Ray Scribner officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requested memorial donations be made out to Markle Volunteer Fire Department in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
