Virginia A. (Ginny) Bauer, 85 of Huntington, IN and formerly of Roanoke, IN passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at 2:21 a.m. on Monday April 11, 2016 at Heritage of Huntington, IN.
She was born June 21, 1930, in Huntington, IN, to Herman and Mamie (Landrigan) Scher. Her parents preceded her in death. Ginny married Ronald A. Bauer on July 28, 1951, in Huntington, IN. He preceded her in death October 25, 1997.

Ginny graduated from Huntington Catholic High School in 1948. She was a homemaker and cooked for the Senior Dinners in Roanoke and did volunteer work at Victory Noll, Huntington, IN. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Roanoke, IN, where she was involved in many church ministries and pro-life activities. She was also a member of the Rosary Sodality at St. Joseph Catholic Church, and American Legion Auxilary 160 in Roanoke, IN.

Surviving are two sons, Don (Cara) Bauer, Roanoke, IN, Mark (Sheryl ) Bauer, Laguna Vista, TX; four daughters, Kathleen (Dan) Wisel, Roanoke, IN, Darlene (Terry) Leitz, Goshen, IN, Janet Markley, Fort Wayne, IN, and Rhonda (David) Kattau, Nashville, TN; two brothers, Lawrence (Ann) Scher, Huntington, IN, Leonard (Janet) Scher, Huntington, IN; three sisters, Pat Meyer, Fort Wayne, IN, Mary (Jerry) Juergens, Haines City, FL and Mert (Bill) Pyle, Huntington, IN. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three brothers, Philip Scher, Thomas Scher and Walter Francis Scher; one sister, Kate Bauer; and one grandchild, Josh Hudson.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, April 13, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McElhaney- Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. at McElhaney- Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN.
Funeral service will be Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. with one hour of calling from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 641 N. Main Street, Roanoke, IN, with Father Dale Bauman presiding.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Roanoke, IN.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church in care of McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
