Two Arrested on Drug Charges

WABASH, Ind. – On May 18th, 2017, the Wabash City Drug Task Force was conducting surveillance on a vehicle that was transporting narcotics into the Wabash area.  At approximately 4:43 p.m., a traffic stop was initiated by Deputies of the Wabash County Sheriff’s Department near the intersection of Old U.S. 24 and 200 South.  The deployment of a K-9, resulted in a positive alert on the vehicle.  A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in recovering approximately 8 grams of Heroin.  The driver, Craig A. Engle Jr., age: 32, Wabash, was incarcerated in the Wabash County Jail on preliminary charges of Dealing in a Controlled Substance and Aiding in Dealing a Controlled Substance.  A passenger, Barbara C. Valdez, age; 30, Amboy, was incarcerated in the Wabash County Jail on preliminary charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance,  Dealing in a Controlled Substance, and Failure to Appear on a Driving While Suspended warrant.  A 72 hour hold was placed on both individuals, pending formal review and charges from the Wabash County Prosecutor, Bill Hartley.
