Sylvia Mae (Gaddis) Clark went into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at York Place in Marion. Sylvia was born on August 31, 1923 to the late Russell and Elizabeth (Thomas) Gaddis, in Fairmount, Indiana.

Sylvia graduated from Fairmount High School in 1941 and then attended Marion Business College. She also took classes at John Wesley College in North Carolina and Marion College, better known now as Indiana Wesleyan University, in Marion, Indiana. She worked for Indiana Electric and Michigan Co.

Sylvia married Rev. Gene E. Clark on February 19, 1947. They farmed together at their home in Summitville, Indiana before moving to Greensboro, North Carolina, where they attended college and pastored. They later moved back to Indiana, where they pastored several churches for many years.

Sylvia’s main love in life was the Lord. He was always number one to her. She felt that she and Gene were both called to the ministry. Next to God came her family. She loved taking care of her children. Sylvia loved to shop, cook, and sew. She also enjoyed playing with her dogs and playing games with her children. Sylvia loved to garden and enjoyed eating the food that came from her garden.

Sylvia is survived by her children; Ruth (Bryce) Bramsen, Cincinnati, OH, Davis (Amy) Clark, Marion, IN, and Steve (Chris) Clark, Tampa, FL; 1 brother, Bill Gaddis, The Villages, FL; 3 sisters, Marilyn Myers, Marion, IN, Carolyn Renbarger, Marion, IN, and Joan Trout, Fishers, IN; 7 grandchildren, Camille Clark, Kelly Munsey, Nolan Clark, Robin Henry, Alissa Krieglstein, Barton Smith, and Emily Clark; and 6 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gene; 2 brothers, James Gaddis and Maylan Gaddis; and 4 sisters, Evelyn Moore, Betty Duke, Jane Gaddis, and Jean Gaddis.

Arrangements for Sylvia have been entrusted to the College Park Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 4601 S. Western Ave. Marion, Indiana. A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at the College Park Chapel, with a funeral service following at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor Judy Crossman officiating. Burial will follow at a later date at Gardens of Memory in Marion, Indiana.
