Ruby N. Lutes (Tedder) Wheatley, 90, LaFontaine, died at 3:40 a.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2017. She was born in Hartford City to Romey and Fletta (Smith) Tedder.

Ruby was a graduate of Blackford High School. After moving to Marion, she worked in the production division at St. Regis Paper. Ruby had a heart of gold and enjoyed helping people. She became a mom to everyone and would have clothed the world if she could. She always gave love. Ruby was a Christian, and she watched ministers on television when she couldn’t go to church.

She is survived by her two sons, James J. (Linda) Wheatley, Swayzee, and Edward E. (Angela Thompson) Wheatley, Marion; and 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Romey and Fletta Tedder; daughter, Dixie D. Dixon; three brothers, Joe, Carl, and Jackie; two sisters, Ida and Mary; and former husband, John C. Lutes.

The family will receive visitors from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, July 31, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Services to celebrate Ruby’s life will be at the funeral home at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, with Rev. Dr. Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park.
