Paul David “Dave” Huffman

Paul David “Dave” Huffman, 53, of Gas City passed away at 8:50 a.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. He was born to Paul D. and Fay Huffman on June 2, 1968. His father preceded him in death in September 1973, and his mother preceded him in death in June 2021.

Dave graduated from Mississinewa High School in 1986 and was Valedictorian of his class, carrying on the tradition his mother started when she graduated Valedictorian of the first graduating class from Mississinewa in 1949. Dave graduated from Purdue University in 1990. He worked for Farmers Home Administration (FmHA) for five years as a loan officer, before working at VIA Credit Union, where he was the branch manager and had just recently reached his 27-year mark.

Dave was a devoted son and friend. He was well-known for his love for the Lord, for his community, all things historical, and Ronald Reagan. He faithfully served his community by serving on the Gas City City Council, Gas City Kiwanis, Gas City Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, Gas City Zone and Redevelopment Commission, Gas City Historical Society, Gas City Museum Board, Gas City Library Board, Main Street Gas City Board, Gas City Main Street Beautification Committee, Gas City Chamber of Commerce, Grant County Convention and Visitors Bureau, LEAD Inc., Grant County Precinct Committeeman, the Selective Service Local Draft Board, and Republican Party State Delegate.

Dave was a member of Eastview Wesleyan Church, where he served as a youth sponsor for several years, and was on the church board as treasurer. He was instrumental in spearheading the church mortgage burning, as well as several building projects and was famous for his pastor appreciation presentations. He had also served as treasurer for SEND Church (Roanoke, IN), and Brinker Heights Wesleyan Church (Marion, IN).

If you knew Dave, then you knew he often was ready with a sarcastic or snarky comment. His dry sense of humor will be sorely missed! He leaves behind a legacy of generosity, kindness, and humility. The impact he left, we will probably never fully realize, and the void he left, he would probably be surprised to witness.

Dave is survived by his aunt, Margie Lhamon, Gas City; uncle Phil (Marcia) Yoke, Kokomo; cousins Susie (Dave) Farmer, Gas City; Sherry (Bobby) Morgan, Russiaville; Anissa Brown, Kokomo; Kim (Ryan) Hester, Russiaville; Daniel (Kelley Poling) Lhamon, Marion, and Mike (Barbara) Yoke, Kokomo; and special friends, Chris Andrews, Gas City; Pastor Mark Atkinson, Marion; Michael Baker, North Carolina; Patte Leach, Gas City; Cody McCollum, Anderson; Kris Rowe, Marion, and male cat, Janet (yes, there is a story behind that, in classic Dave style!).

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul, mother, Fay, grandparents Paul and Ruby Yoke, uncle, Flay Lhamon, and special friend, Larry Leach.
