Patricia D. Heck, 77, Indianapolis, died at 7:26 a.m. on Friday, November 18, 2016, in her residence. She was born in Grand Island, Nebraska to the late James Stumbo and Ida Lou (Poole) Huckleberry. Patricia graduated from Tucker Area Career Center with her LPN degree and also took nursing classes at Indiana Wesleyan University. She married Roy I. Heck in 1965 and he preceded her in death in 1994.

Patricia had been a member of the First Christian Church since 1995. She was an LPN and worked for numerous local nursing homes. She was very compassionate and was known to stay after her shift to be with a patient that didn’t have family. She loved doing things for other people and had a great sense of humor. She enjoyed arts and crafts, coloring, and reading before her eyesight went bad, collecting bells, dolphins and the Royal family memorabilia. She enjoyed taking in the sun rays and NCIS was her favorite TV program. Patricia was a good cook, enjoyed cake decorating and taking decorating classes with her daughter, Deborah. She also helped make her daughters’ wedding cakes. Patricia also went through clowning classes with her daughter, Joyce. Together they went clowning at nursing homes, participating in various parades, and even Christmas at the Zoo.

Patricia is survived by her children, Deborah Folk, Marion, Larry (JoAnn) Heck, Colorado, Joyce (Matt) Dodge, Indianapolis, and James “Jim” (Vicki) Heck, Greensburg; sisters, Beverly Aroh, St. Louis, Missouri and Sandra Dodge, Seattle, Washington. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and numerous aunts and uncles. She adored her beloved dog, Alvin.

In addition to her parents and husband, Patricia was preceded in death by many aunts and uncles.

The family will receive visitors from 11-1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Avenue, Marion, Indiana. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Roslyn Harrison officiating and the burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park, Marion.

Patricia’s daughters, Joyce and Deborah, have been her primary caregivers for the past 5 ½ months and the family wishes to thank Community Hospice for their care and compassion.
