Mildred S. Elam, 92, of Warren, IN, passed away at 3:45 AM on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Heritage Pointe in Warren, IN. She was born on Wednesday, February 11, 1925, in Wolf County, KY. She married Rev. Charles Elam on Friday, August 27, 1948 in Vancleve, KY; he passed away April 18, 2002. Mrs. Elam was a 1944 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School in Vancleve, KY and attended Asbury College in Wilmore, KY. She was a homemaker and had been a resident of the United Methodist Memorial Home (Heritage Pointe) since 1989. Mrs. Elam was a member of the United Methodist Women’s Group. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting and ceramics.
Survivors include: Daughter – Charlotte (Gary) Messick, Roanoke, IN, Son – Philip (Bonnie) Elam, Fort Wayne, IN, Brother – LT (Wife, Mary) Shull, Beverly Hills, FL, Sister – Wanda Koch, NC, Grandson – Benjamin (Wendy) Messick, Fort Wayne, IN, Granddaughter – Susan (Tom) Lumpke, Logansport, , IN, Granddaughter – Jennifer (Adrain) McQueen, Fort Wayne, IN, Granddaughter – Jessica Studle, Fort Wayne, IN, Granddaughter – Janae (Tim) Elam, Fort Wayne, IN, and 11 Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her: Parents- Linvill Thrasher & Stella M. (Amburgy) Shull, Husband – Rev. Charles Elam, Sisters – Martha Pierson, Frieda M. Kyle, and Brothers – Raymon C. and Clemons B. Shull.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember at Heritage Pointe Applegate Chapel 801 Huntington Ave. Warren on Saturday, July 1, 2017 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A service to celebrate Mildred’s life will follow at 12:00 PM with the Pastor Dick Case officiating. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery in Warren.
