Mary Kay LaMont , 102, Huntington, IN died on Sunday, July 10, 2016, at Tipton Place, Huntington, IN.
Mrs. LaMont was born on June 28, 1914 in Oakwood, OH to John George and Georgia Ice Wurm. Her first marriage was to Warren M. Hartzell in 1938. He preceded her in death in 1964 in Huntington, IN. Her second marriage was to Herbert D. LaMont in 1965. He preceded her in death in 1981 in Huntington, IN.
Mrs. LaMont was a graduate of Elmhurst High School. In Clearwater Florida she was a representative of Niagra Cyclo Massage; she worked at WOWO as ‘Aunt Sally’s Helper on Children’s Program’ WOWO; Hosiery Inspector-Wayne Knitting Mill; 1959 Hartzell Travel Bureau at Hotel LaFontaine and served as President of Maco Corporation for two and half years.
She is a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She served on various church offices. She was on the Huntington College Board of Directors, Woman’s Board of Trustees, Huntington College, Pathfinders, Kids Kampus, Monday Club, P.E.O. Sisterhood, Red Cross, Good Samaritan, Y.M.C.A.,Girl and Boy Scouts. She was the first woman to be named Chief of Flints Springs and the first woman in Huntington County to receive a Bible from the Gideons. She sponsored several people in the missionary field.
Survivors include: two daughters: Diane Kay Adams, Huntington, IN and Suzanne Gay Brown, Auburn, IN; one son: Phillip Lee (Julie) Hartzell, Marysville, IN. She is survived by seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and three great- great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: two brothers: Glen Richard Wurm and Max Wurm and one sister: Leone D. Fogle.
A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the New Haven IOOF Cemetery, 1109 Hartzell Road, New Haven, IN 46774 with Reverend Heather Olson-Bunnell officiating.
Burial will be in New Haven IOOF Cemetery, Hartzell Road, New Haven, IN.
