Mary Elizabeth “Kay” Bailey

Mary Elizabeth “Kay” Bailey, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2017, at Miller’s Merry Manor, in Marion, Indiana. Kay was born to the late George and Effie (Miller) Norton in Bean Station, Tennessee. She attended Rose High School in Morristown, Tennessee. She married Wallace Bailey on March 6, 1958. He preceded her in death on December 24, 1984. She was a stay-at-home mom, until her kids started school and then she worked several jobs. She then worked as a machine operator for GenCorp in Marion, Indiana, where she retired from after 18 years. Kay’s family was very important to her and she enjoyed spending as much time as she could with them. She was a very witty woman with a great sense of humor. She was also very generous and loving. If you came to her house, she made sure you didn’t leave hungry.

Kay will be missed dearly by her friend and companion, Jim Saylors, Converse; daughters, Barbara (Robert) Tucker, Jonesboro, and Brenda Meyer, Marion; sons, Donny (Brittney) Bailey, Muncie, and Michael (Annette) Bailey, Andrews; very special daughter-in-law, Tracy Bailey; sister, Dorothy Carpenter, Morristown; brother, George Norton, Strawberry Plaines, TN; ten grandchildren, Brittney Purvis, Cara Purvis, Brandi (Chadd) Canode, Josh Tucker, Aimee (Will) Robertson, Cole Bailey, Melissa Bailey, Maddy Bailey, and Solomon Bailey; ten great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Effie Norton, husband, Wallace, grandson, Derek Bailey, four sisters, and two brothers.

Arrangements for Kay have been entrusted to Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services College Park Chapel, 4601 S. Western Ave., Marion, Indiana, where a memorial service will be held at a later date.
