Marjorie Carmichael, 90, Marion, died at 1:45 a.m. on Sunday, June 19, 2016, at Rolling Meadows Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Marion, Indiana, to the late Frank and Lydia (Heil) Sample. She married David Carmichael on January 27, 1943, and he preceded her in death on June 27, 2002.

Marjorie retired as an LPN from Marion Family Practice. She volunteered at Marion General Hospital and served as assistant chaplain. She was a very active member of 8th Street Wesleyan Church and particularly loved serving in the Women’s Missionary Society.

Survivors include her children, Ruth Ann Anderson, Marion, Sally R. Cummings, Marion, Janet (Dale) Miller, Marion, Judy (Bill) Fortney, Marion, and Nancy (Patrick) Nelson, Lawrenceburg; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Jim Sample, Esther (Van) Richardson, and Mary Ruth Baker; and special friend, Megan Steele Nicholson.

In addition to her parents and husband, Marjorie was preceded in death by her brother, Leroy Sample; sister, Virginia Patton; and great-grandson, Riley Miller.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2016, at the funeral home with Pastor Dan Van Cise officiating. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park, Marion.
