Josephine C. Hunt

Josephine C. Hunt, 97, passed away at Miller’s Merry Manor in Marion at 1 a.m. on Tuesday, October 3, 2017. She was born on July 18, 1920, to the late Frank and Ellena (Rubazaili) Bogus, who immigrated to America from Lithuania during World War I. In 1940, Josephine met Robert Hunt in Marion, and they married November 22, 1945, when Bob returned home from Europe after World War II. She and Bob shared 43 years of marriage until his death on July 13, 1988.

Josephine attended St. Paul High School. After she and Bob married, she was a homemaker until her three children left for college. She then became food service manager at Kendall Elementary School in Marion. Josephine was a lifelong member of St. Paul Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Rosary Society and the Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed reading, playing Euchre, and cheering for the Indiana Hoosiers basketball team. After retirement, Josephine and Bob enjoyed traveling, particularly their many trips to Las Vegas.

Survivors include her two sons, Thomas R. (Kathleen) Hunt, Marion, and James M. (Linda) Hunt, Macomb, Michigan; and 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Marcia E. Snell; sisters, Helen Siders and Stella Wiley; and brother, Frank Hunt, Jr..

The family will receive visitors from 9:30-11 a.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1009 Kem Rd., Marion, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin immediately following the visitation at 11 a.m. with Father Richard Weisenberger officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory.

Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to the St. Paul Catholic Church Narthex Fund.
