Joseph “Joe” E. Bartrum, 77, Gas City, passed away in his home at 2:45 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2017. Born in Converse to the late Charles Calvert Bartrum and Pearlier (Kidder) Bartrum, Joe lived most of his life in Gas City. He was married to the late Rebecca “Becky” (Nose) Bartrum on February 10, 1968.

Joe worked at Foster-Forbes for 42 years. He coached Three-Way Sports for several years and loved hunting, fishing, and doing farm work. Joe also loved going to church at Friendship Baptist Church, and he loved his church family.

Joe always looked forward to spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed spending time on his son’s farm where he loved to feed all the animals. Joe showed his love by making sure everyone had enough food to eat.

He will be greatly missed by his two dogs and his loving family which includes his sons, Joe (Georgia) Bartrum II, Jeremy (Lisa Holmes) Bartrum, and James (April) Bartrum; grandchildren, Bethany (Clinton) Kirkwood, Raven Bartrum, Matthew Bartrum, and Briana Bartrum; brothers, Bill (Karen) Bartrum, Paul (Nellie) Bartrum, Bobby Bartrum, and Jimmy Bartrum; sisters, Margaret Tayler and Susan Bartrum; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Bartrum, and sisters, Betty Blessing and Shirley Kitts.

Family and friends may call from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City. A memorial service for Joe will begin at 4 p.m. with Pastor Bruce Koontz officiating. Inurnment will be at Grant Memorial Park.
