Janet K. (Reasoner) Newby, 79, died, Thursday, July 27, 2017 at her Fairmount, Indiana residence.

Janet was born on February 12, 1938 in Matthews, Indiana, daughter of the late Howard Reasoner and Bonnie (Vardaman) Reasoner. She was a 1956 graduate of Fairmount High School. After graduation she married her husband of 52 years, Darrell D. Newby, on June 24, 1956 in Fowlerton, Indiana. Darrell preceded her in death on December 25, 2008. Janet worked at the Blue Ribbon Restaurant in 1950 while in school. After graduation in 1956 she went to work at RCA in teletype division for four years. She retired from Fairmount State Bank in 2000 after 27 1/2 where she worked as a Teller. Janet was a member of the Fairmount United Methodist Church where she worked in the nursery and attended Bible study. She had been a member of the Fairmount Eastern Star since 1965 and was also a member of the Unity of Fairmount Home Extension Club and was an avid basket collector.

Janet is survived by her two daughters; Michelle (Mike) Moore and Connie (Tom) Dailey both of Fairmount, Indiana. brother Ted (Carole) Reasoner of Lincoln, California, four grandchildren; Ryan Dailey, Alexandria, IN, Stephanie (Scott) Buckles, Marion, IN, Jenna (David) Engelhardt, Peru, IN and Brice (Abbi) Moore, Fairmount, IN great-grandchildren; Braedon Dailey, Kylie and Tristan Buckles, Xavier Dailey, and Greyson and Liam Engelhardt, 9 fur great-grandbabies, special friend Jane Allen, dear neighbors Gene Heiny and Donna Stevens, as well as her Pizza King Family.

Janet was also preceded in death by her brother Alan Reasoner.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 S. Main Street, Fairmount, Indiana where the family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 from 4-8 PM with an Eastern Star service at 8 PM.

Funeral service celebrating Janet’s life will be on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at 11 AM with Rev. Amy Covington officiating. Burial with graveside service will follow at Park Cemetery, Fairmount, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children or the Fairmount United Methodist Church or Grant County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
