James H. Gamble, 93, of Huntington, IN, passed away at 4:10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at The Tipton Place, Huntington, IN.

Mr. Gamble was born on February 24, 1924, in Huntington, IN, to Ernest and Etta (Crago) Gamble. His parents preceded him in death. Mr. Gamble married Willodean J. Shaffer on October 31, 1946. She preceded him in death on October 8, 2013.

James graduated from Huntington High School in 1942. He served in the United States Army during WWII. He worked in the service department at NIPSCO for 25 years. After retirement, he resided in Florida with his wife for 22 years. Mr. Gamble was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Huntington, IN.

Surviving are two sons, Richard “Rick” (Lana) Gamble, Warren, IN, Tim (Sarah) Gamble, Bippus, IN; and one daughter, Michelle (Dave) Mauger, Anderson, SC. He was also survived by one sister, Martha Schmittler, Andrews, IN; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Along with his parents and wife he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest Gamble, Russell Gamble; and three sisters, Marsha Cambron, Mary Gamble and Viva Louise Gamble.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN 46750.

Services will follow the calling at 11:00 a.m. at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington, IN 46750 with Father Stephen Colchin presiding.

Burial with Military Rites will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Marion, IN.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to St. Mary Catholic Church for Masses.
